Symbolic

As a heavy-hitting dynamic force hailing from the power/prog metal midst of the San Diego, California music scene, Symbolic combines their melodic energy and excitement for what will be their fifth CD later this year.

Since the first three years of their conception, increasingly impressive efforts helped build a strong following locally and internationally. Opening for well-known national acts such as Adrenaline Mob, Fates Warning, UFO, Brian Wheat (of Tesla fame), PHILM with Dave Lombardo, guitar legend Michael Schenker, Doro Pesch and others, it was no surprise that Symbolic found themselves in very close company of great music notables.

Berlin

This Los Angeles-based synth pop group, founded by bassist John Crawford, singer Terri Nunn, and keyboard player David Diamond, made its first national impression with the provocative single “Sex (I’m A…)” from the gold-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. The group was filled out by guitarist Rick Olsen, keyboard player Matt Reid, and drummer Rob Brill. Berlin’s first full-length LP was the gold Love Life in 1984. In 1985, the group was pared down to a trio of Crawford, Nunn, and Brill. Berlin topped the charts in 1986 with the single “Take My Breath Away,” the love theme from the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun.

Nunn left for a solo career in 1987, and Crawford and Brill teamed up in the Big F. In 1999, the band reunited to record some new studio material and also performed a concert, which, along with the new songs, was released as 2000’s Berlin Live: Sacred and Profane. This was followed a year later by a flurry of recording sessions that included co-writing tracks with Billy Corgan, among others. The end result, Voyeur, was their first full-length studio release in over 15 years

Leaving Austin

Leaving Austin

Leaving Austin is the new generation of country music. Don’t let their tattoos, piercings, and skinny jeans fool you. These 5 young guys have the cutting edge to where country music is headed. Leaving Austin consists of members: Austin Machado on lead vocals, Davis Forney on guitar and harmonies, Michael Stevens on bass, Terry Ashford on lead guitar, and Ryan Chin on drums. Born and raised in the central valley of California, growing up on country, pop, and rock n’ roll, they decided it was time to get back to their roots and sing country their way.

Living in the small towns of the Central Valley, everyone just seems to know everyone. Michael, Terry, and Davis grew up playing music at church together in Visalia, CA. One night Davis went to a local venue to watch one of his friends’ band. When he walked in the room to check out the opening band, he heard Austin sing for the first time. “His vocals captured me in disbelief”, says Davis. Austin was then introduced to Davis that night through mutual friends and they hit it off immediately. They started writing music and became best friends within days. As they pursued music, Davis brought Michael and Terry onboard. As they played local shows, the guys heard Ryan’s flawless drumming in their friends’ pop punk band. It was a no-brainer to call him about their new endeavor of pop country. They all decided to get together for a practice session and it was immediately apparent that, when Ryan started playing along with them, this was the dream team.

Patrick Howard Trampus (PHT Country)

Patrick Howard Trampus PHT, is a Southern California country music artist. Growing up in rural San Diego County, PHT found a love for hay fields, dirt roads and country music.
He was influenced at an early age by artist like, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Hank Jr. He developed a love for country music and honed his singing skills in church and by camp fires.
By 18, PHT had his first band. They played the SoCal country scene getting the opportunity to open for major country acts like Billy Ray Cyrus, Mark Chesnutt, Wade Hayes and Jamie O’Neil.

PHT took time away from music to raise his family and start a career in Law Enforcement. After 11 years in Law Enforcement PHT had to retire due to injury and leave a promising and rewarding career.

The love for music and entertaining never left. In 2014 he began his musical journey again. Forming a band in San Diego and playing venues from Petco Park to The San Diego County Fair. PHT is once again doing what he loves. Bringing a stadium like show to a honky tonk near you.

The Devon Allman Project with Duane Betts

Posted in Classic Rock, Live Music, Rock, Schedule on October 7th, 2018 by Doug

December 7, 2018 · Doors open at 19:00

The Devon Allman Project

Devon Allman, former leader of Honeytribe and the Royal Southern Brotherhood, as well as the son of the late Gregg Allman, will embark on a massive tour with The Devon Allman Project. The Devon Allman Project will be joined by special guest Duane Betts for a 30+ minute encore each night, while Duane will also open each show.

The Devon Allman Project is a sextet that finds Devon joined by percussionists John Lum and R. Scott Bryan as well as bassist Justin Corgan, guitarist Jackson Stokes and organist Nicholas David. Duane’s opening set will find Dickey Betts’ son aided by guitarist Johnny Stachela and Devon’s rhythm section.

Each club/theater show will begin with a 30-minute set from Duane Betts & Co. Then, The Devon Allman Project will play a one-hour set that will include songs from Honeytribe, Royal Southern Brotherhood, The Devon Allman Band and choice covers. As mentioned, the concerts will culminate with all eight musicians joining forces for Allman Brothers tunes and other classics as part of a 30+ minute encore.

Devon Allman

Allman is the son of Gregg Allman (of The Allman Brothers Band) and Shelley Kay Jefts. His parents divorced when he was an infant, and he grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, as well as Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri, raised by his mother.

Allman began playing music as a teen, but was not influenced by his father. He did not meet his father until he was in his teens, but they then bonded instantly. For several years in the 1990s he performed around the growing St. Louis blues and rock music scene, while also managing a suburban Guitar Center store where he met his future Royal Southern Brotherhood bandmate, Mike Zito.

In his twenties, Allman tried various musical styles and sounds to distance himself from his father’s sound and avoid obvious comparisons, though his father did not meddle in Allman’s career. In his thirties, Allman embraced the blues and rock genres.

Allman grew up on classic, blues-inspired rock music, and has specifically mentioned Santana, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Allman Brothers Band as influences…

Duane Betts

There is learning and there is knowing. From sit-ins, sessions, and sideman shifts, Duane Betts learned. Then, Duane Betts knew.

As a teen, Betts cut his teeth sitting-in regularly with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Allman Brothers Band, led by his father, Dickey Betts. Named by his dad in honor of his late Allman Brothers bandmate, the renowned Duane Allman, this native of Sarasota, Florida relocated to Southern California in the late 1990s, becoming a consummate musician in Malibu rock bands such as Backbone69 and Whitestarr, and sharing the stage with luminaries from Jack Johnson and G. Love to Kid Rock and Phil Lesh.

After 15 years of honing his craft in numerous bands, the Los Angeles-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter knew it was time to take all that he learned and make it his own. Following celebrated stints with folk-rock darlings Dawes, and with Jamtown- a supergroup featuring Love, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Cisco Adler- plus a near-decade stint with his dad Dickey Betts’ post-Allman Brothers Band outfit, Great Southern, it was time to step out from the side of the stage and move to the center.

It was time for Betts’ own six-string stories and impassioned songs portraying a life, and a history, steeped in blues, rock, and country music tradition to be heard.

Duane Betts knew it was time to go solo…

Southern Reign

Authentic, drive, passion and heartfelt are just a few words that describe Southern Reign’s music. Songs that tell stories of real life experiences. Carrying the torch for our southern rock band favorites like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker, Etc. True blue collar, get your hands dirty, southern rock music.
